This is the classic tale of a mimic that swallowed a dimension door to a demiplane. You’ve never heard of it? Of course it’s classic!

After swallowing the door and inflating to a ridiculous degree due to the insane magical intake, the mimic decided to disguise itself as a tavern. It was ravenous after growing so much, and such a disguise would be perfect to lure food. However, every time it would eat someone, they would disappear into the dimension door. The mimic would remain hungry, and the amount of eaten victims would eventually start a tavern on the demiplane.

Why’s it called the Lazy Eye Tavern, then? Well, that’s a story for another day.
