As the first of Tabitha's employees, Mr. Eugene was chosen to be the tavern keeper. Some say it's because he was the most competent one, others say it's because he's the closest of a fish the cat owner could get. And lastly, some say that it was because he was pretty much the only choice as one of the few mimic victims so far. But you can believe whatever your heart tells you to.
