For Thundar, violence was never the immediate answer; it was only ever used as the last resource. But it was a resource still, and a very effective one.

Since he was a child, the monk who raised Thundar intended for him to become a man of peace. Between teaching mindfulness and control over his body and soul, the man taught Thundar that life is sacred and shall never be profaned. And for a long time, Thundar believed him. Until the day the monastery was attacked and he saw many of the monks being slaughtered without ever fighting back. Furious, Thundar grabbed an axe and split one of the attackers’ skull in two. From that day on, Thundar knew he would never be the man his adoptive father wanted him to be, and decided it was best to leave his sight while he could.
